Hot treat benefitted animal charity

The love of hot curry proved a hit for local animal charity PAWS, Pennine Animal Welfare Society, run by Belle Riley of Todmorden.

For the Love Your Local Market campaign a few weeks ago, the Curried Away stall on Todmorden Saturday and Hebden Bridge Thursday markets offered customers tastings of the world’s hottest curry, naga ghost. The samples were free with donations accepted for PAWS. The hot curry lovers gave £60 which Curried Away’s Jeff Thomson presented to Belle.

The animal charity takes-in and fosters-out elderly, disabled or abandoned animals, mainly cats and dogs. With around twenty animals currently in care PAWS largest costs are food and vets’ bills. Donations to PAWS can be made at the PAWS stall on Todmorden Sunday market or the Curried Away stall at Todmorden on Saturdays and Hebden Bridge on Thursdays.
