Tomorrow (Saturday) a flood fundraiser will be held at Bolton Brow Working Men’s Club from 1pm until midnight. There will be a variety of stalls, kids entertainment, an entertainer, a magician, face painting, sand art, craft workshop, raffles and more. There will also be a Mexican food stand and a hog roast.

In the evening, stalls and food will continue and at 5.45pm the first of seven live acts will take to the stage.

The co-operative spirit is alive and kicking in Hebden Bridge, despite Boxing Day floods which devastated the town centre. Two of the town’s many co-ops, the Valley Organics worker co-op and the Egg Factory co-working space, are among the pop-up shops surfacing throughout the town.

The Egg Factory is hosting a weekend of pop-up activity this weekend and has offered free desk space to anyone who is unable to access their office in the wake of the floods.

Rubyshoesday’s pop-up shoe shop will operate at the Egg Factory until they move back into their Market Street premises. Ribbon Circus will join Rubyshoesday and other traders for the pop-up market this weekend.

Valley Organics has also popped up at the Ground Floor Project at Salem Community Resource Centre in Central Street, Hebden Bridge.

A knitting shop in Chapel Allerton will show its support for fellow crafters hit by flooding by raising funds through a one-day sale.

Baa ram ewe, at 180 Harrogate Road, is donating 10 per cent of all takings this Saturday, January 9, to Ribbon Circus in Hebden Bridge. The haberdashery was flooded on Boxing Day and its owners are working hard to raise the money to re-open the shop as soon as possible.

The sale will begin at 9am online – meaning baa ram ewe’s customers around the world can also contribute to the fundraising – and at 10am in the shop. Visit www.baaramewe.co.uk for details.

Non-knitters can also support Ribbon Circus via an online fundraising page at crowdfunding.justgiving.com/ribbon-circus.

Bands will also perform at a charity concert to raise funds for victims of the Calderdale floods.

Helen Bentley originally put the idea forward for the Floodstock event which will take place at various venues over the weekend across Calderdale and Kirklees.

The Beck in Bradford Road, Brighouse will play host to a great line up of bands on Saturday January 9 from 5pm.

The event has been collaborated between, Ian and Chris Crabtree from the bands Blood Sweat and Beers, and The Rainey Street Band, David Kennedy (The Rainey Street Band) and the manager from the Beck Paul Dickinson.

Other performers, who are offering their time free of charge include Ryan Spendlove, JP Totham and the Bard of Brighouse Roger Davies.

On top of the music side, there will be raffles, collections, auctions along with the The Beck’s owner Paul Horne making a donation on behalf of the pub.

Todmorden Choral Society and Todmorden Orchestra will perform Handel’s Messiah on January 24. The concert will be at Todmorden Town Hall and will begin at 7pm.

On Sunday, February 7, there will be a fundraiser at Heptonstall Social and Bowling Club from 2-5pm. It will be a family day with a disco, bouncy castle, face painting, games and prizes, a buffet, tombola, raffle, surprise Disney guests and more. A bar will also be open for adults.

Entry is £5 per child - under 1s go free but donations are welcome.
